Счет в банке или строительном обществе, предназначенный для накопления личных сбережений. Существует большое разнообразие сберегательных счетов, отличающихся по срокам, условиям и процентным ставкам. Обычно процентные ставки по этим счетам выше, чем по традиционным депозитным счетам и текущим счетам с начислением процентов на остаток. Некоторые счета допускают изъятие с них средств в любое время, тогда как по другим счетам о намерении изъять средства требуется сообщать заблаговременно, как правило, за 30, 60 или 90 дней. Обычно процентные ставки по этим счетам варьируются в зависимости от суммы на счете и продолжительности срока уведомления об изъятии средств.
