For some reason I’m getting this even though all this is fine on my end:
Steam Guard activated for more than 15 days etc etc. Haven’t used Market actively in a while but it never had issues before. The only thing I’m seeing that could’ve broken it but makes 0 sense is ‘Removing Steam Guard or disabling and re-enabling Steam Guard will also trigger this restriction’ even though it is and has been enabled for at least a month.
Anyone know what’s up or experiencing the same?

Thanks for your reply. Well that was the error it gave in red. It did also give another message in yellow. I probably should’ve added that initially as well. Here it is:
Market listing will be held for: 15 days
You have not been using the Mobile Authenticator for 7 days.
Learn more about how to remove the need for market listing holds.
Even though I changed the Steam Guard thing to email quite a bit more than 7 days ago. Is there an error in their system or something that they think it has only been 7 days? I don’t want or need those ‘market listing holds’.
Then it’s really right there in the message
You have not been using the Mobile Authenticator for 7 days.
Steam guard is NOT the same thing as the Mobile Authenticator. The mobile Authenticator may show the Steam guard code but it is more than that. If you want to trade/sell on the market without restrictions you need the Mobile Authenticator active and it needs to have been active for 7 days

Wait what you can’t use market at all without that mobile thing.
You can sell with the 15 day hold before gets listed as will trading items be held for 15 days before it completes.
If you have the Mobile authenticator you can confirm sales/trades and they are listed/completed straight away. In order for the 15 day restriction to be removed you need to have the mobile Authenticator active for 7 full days

Well I can’t sell anything at all. I already tried and received the following message in red(what I was talking about originally):
‘Your account is currently unable to use the Community Market.’
So I have no idea WTF is happening.
Also why would mobile authenticator be required for instant listing. That’s absolutely ridiculous. I should just be able to use email for that(confirming listings).

Shockingly people still use the same password on multiple accounts and if they have with Steam and their email any hijacker could access their email and confirm trades.
With the Authenticator on a separate device hijackers would need access to a persons account AND their mobile phone. That reduces the changes of hijackers being able to trade away a users items before they can reclaim their account.
Personally I dislike the need for it but I understand it from an Account Security perspective. Increased security is always to protect the most vulnerable and anyone else have to live with it.

Actually my inital post was back in January 2014, short before the Holiday Sale ended.
What happened: I’ve topped up my Steam wallet funds and used another prepaid card as usual. After that my access to the Community Market had been restricted for 1 week.
Afaik until now there was no way to remove the restriction (which is or was also stated in the policy of Steam): you had to wait 1 week until the restriction expired.
Recently Steam just released a new feature to manually verify new credit cards and remove the restriction instantly: Credit Card Verification
Please note: unfortunately until now this feature is only available for credit cards (see above link), maybe PayPal will be added one day too, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.
Hi Steam Moderators and Supporters, I just topped up my Steam wallet funds using another prepaid card and now I can’t use the market for selling or buying stuff.
In addition, the Steam Support page is down due to high traffic and I can’t even create a support ticket.
Please lift this restriction on my account so I can use the Steam market again.
Thanks in advance.
This is the dumbest restriction ever. They do this to prevent fraud, but it is annoying beyond all belief. I just learned of it to. My reason for a new source of money? Because of Target fraud and my bank issuing me a new card, none of which was initiated by myself. This is why Steam needs to drop this stupid antifraud and let it be handled where it matters, at the banks.
So we are out of luck for getting cards with our money, because steam has a terrible approach. Anyhow if you look at the market page at the top the «Sell an Item» is grayed out, if highlighted it will show the day you can use the market once more.
Triple issue for this policy is now I can’t even sell items that I already had. Or for that matter got via steam? What does that even have to do with my credit card or potential fraud? You can’t remove funds from Steam, so why prevent us from selling just for changing our source of payment? Ultimately it is a terrible, terrible policy they have on the market place.

Newly Added Payment Method
Only items and games that are purchased with trusted payment methods can be traded immediately; otherwise there is a 5 day cooldown before they can be traded. The Community Market will also be unavailable during the cooldown. Any payment method that has been verified using Steam’s card ownership verification tool is considered trusted. Verify your credit card here and gain access to the Community Market sooner than 5 days. Verification amounts are sent to your bank in the currency that appears in your Steam store. If your bank converts the charges into your local currency, please contact them for the pre-converted amounts.
If you added the entire amount on the gift card, you have to wait out the restriction.
No one can remove or reduce the restriction once it has been placed on the account.

I go through Steam Support.
It states: ‘Your account currently cannot use the Community Market’
There is an option underneath that says: ‘I want to understand why I can’t use the Community Market.’
‘Failed to load data for this account’
there should be more to the message about why you cannot use the market.
if there isnt, it may just be a simple server issue that you need to wait till it sorts itself out.

HI i buy i sell/stuff one week ago in Community Market and now i can’t.
Today and yesterday i buy game with my E-Bluecard (every time my bank create a temporary number with a max amount i choose, my bank wants i use that because if the online seller lost my Bluecard info. )
.
If buying game on steam with my E-Bluecard forbide me to use Community Market i will buy game elsewhere.
Please do something Thanks.
i just found a way to get past the credit card problem. i went directly to the main market page and looked at a message explaining the restriction after adding a new payment method. there was a link that allowed me to speed up verification by letting steam make 2 small transactions of random amounts and then asking me to check my balance and verify what the exact amounts were.

i just received this too, i was desperate to get the rest of the cards to craft badges and get a few more points for my team, now i find out im BANNED for using the market at all until AFTER the summer sales even is OVER. what a total crock. i doubt i’ll put another dime into anything on Steam after this sabotage. no pop-up warning or link to the info, have to dig around after the fact to find out that putting money into Steam = banned from the rest of the summer sale. so let down. as usual.
I reset my password because I logged in at a different computer (and I have it saved so just forgot) and they put a 5 day hold on my account?! That is ridiculous. I have to get a code sent to my verified e-mail address to even activate it. This is asanine! I entered a ticket 7 hours ago and all I got was an automated response. Frankly, steam are not the only show in town and their deals are not the only deals in town any more. They need to improve their tools.
i guess we’re gonna have to learn to put aside a week to read every scrap of legal red tape on every facet of steam from now on. changing your password, adding a credit card, etc. when successful, shouldn’t result in a ban. it should be simple, or at least we should be shown a warning before walking into a week-long ban. then again, steam doesn’t even bother to notify users when they do maintenance, something even the underfunded and understaffed Xfire have managed to do almost since day one.
the rich get richer. but yeah, Steam is definitely not the only game in town, and if they keep pushing the envelope the way they are, they’ll find themselves in the same boat EA is currenly trying to bail itself out of.
Well at least with Origin they allow for alternate payment methods, don’t ban you for resetting a password, and warn you of planned outages.

This is a security protection as well. If you get your email hacked then the hacker could steal all your inventory items. You may also run into trouble proving an account is yours if you no longer have access to that email address. You can always change your password instead of resetting it and you won’t have any restrictions.

I have access to the e-mail address, anyhow I don’t care any more. It’s just not worth the energy. They just really need to communicate these consequences more clearly. If it is a hacker they wont care but those of us with genuine issues may look at alternatives rather than get ourselves locked out. Anyhow, it’s virtual baubles, it’s not the end of the world. It’s just a disappointment, and the lack of support even more so. The fact I had to get this information from a third party via the community (whilst enduring insults from other community members for having the temerity to be upset) just really sours me on the Steam community and the Steam experience entirely. If this was Origin I could have picked up the phone and had the entire thing resolved in 30 minutes (I’ve had payment issues there before and had no problems getting them resolved). Anyway, such is life. Thanks for your help!
