Pup cup что это
What Is A Starbucks Puppuccino? And Is It Free?
Next time you pull up to the drive-through window at Starbucks, make sure to order your dog a treat, too! Starbucks absolutely serves our furry friends in the form of its most popular secret menu item, the Puppuccino.
What Is A Puppuccino?
The Puppachino, beloved by baristas everywhere is a very simple thing. It’s just a small Starbucks cup of whipped cream, made especially for your dog. There’s no coffee, tea, or caffeine of any kind in the cup, just straight-up whipped cream.
How Do You Order a Puppuccino?
This is one menu item you can’t order through your Starbucks app—just tell your barista you have your dog along for the ride and they would very much like a Puppuccino (or a pup cup, or just a small cup of whipped cream). They’ll know exactly what you’re talking about.
Are Puppuccinos Safe?
While your dog should usually stick dog food and treats, there’s nothing wrong with the Puppuccino as a special treat. Unless your dog has digestive issues, in which case it’s probably best to skip the dairy. Too much dairy for any dog can lead to tummy troubles, so stick to one cup per pup!
How Much Does A Puppuccino Cost?
Puppuccinos are a freebie! Starbucks loves dogs just as much as you do, but it wouldn’t hurt to throw in a little tip on top of your drink for their kindness. We think your dog would agree. (Also, head scritches through the window are never a bad thing, as long as both parties are willing.)
Looking to spoil your pup beyond a Puppuccino? Get them a BarkBox! Every month BarkBox delivers 2 original toys, designed in-house, 2 full bags of all-natural treats, and a chew. Starbucks Puppuccino Cost May Be Free, But Unsafe For Dogs
If McD’s isn’t the answer, is the world’s most popular coffee chain a better choice?
What’s a puppuccino?
Also known as a pup cup, this Starbucks secret menu item is exclusively for customers with dogs. It’s a tall coffee cup filled with whipped cream. The ingredients are cream, mono and diglycerides, and carrageenan. It’s not a real cappuccino or Frappuccino, as no coffee is included. It’s caffeine-free.
How much is it?
Obviously, if someone ordered several at a time or abused the perk in another way, the cashier would likely decline, or have to charge for a drink which comes with cream on top.
Is it good for your dog?
Being that it’s not a standard menu item, nutrition facts for this doggy drink, or even their pure whipped cream, are not published by Starbucks.
However, you can figure it out using their website’s nutrition calculator.
When you can add and then subtract whipped cream to a regular Frappuccino, nutritional values for pure whipped cream can be calculated.
Per serving, a typical Starbucks puppuccino would be expected to have:
The low and high end of those values represents 1 and 2 servings of whipped cream, respectively. While some baristas give smaller amounts to smaller breeds, the typical we see is equal to around 1-2x the amount used to top a human Frappuccino.
But wait, it gets worse.
The above facts are for a “healthy” pup cup. Many locations add pumps of vanilla syrup – which is essentially flavored liquid sugar – when making them.
According to a discussion on Starbucks’ Reddit, a purported barista describes how they make a puppuccino:
“We make this whipped cream by mixing heavy cream and eight pumps of Starbucks Vanilla Syrup in a pressurized canister.”
The ingredients of the added syrup are:
“Sugar, Water, Natural Flavors, Preservative: Potassium Sorbate (E202), Citric Acid (E330), Color: Caramel (E150d).”
While we haven’t seen it sold at their coffee shops, you can actually buy Starbucks vanilla syrup on Amazon by the liter. Per 2 Tbsp, there’s 19g of sugar listed on the label.
1 pump equals ½ Tbsp. When a barista is making it with 8 pumps, that’s an extra 38g of sugar and 160 calories.
In total, that would be up to 400 calories and 44g of sugar you are giving your dog!
Glycemic overload isn’t the only bad thing about it…
You’ve heard the controversy about carrageenan. Did you know it might be even more dangerous to your pet?
These sulfated polysaccharides are extracted from seaweed. They’re said to be safe for humans in the amounts permitted, though research reports this common food additive may “lead to glucose intolerance” and “insulin resistance.” (2)
The degraded form of carrageenan, such as what might be produced during food prep and digestive activity, has been linked to “gastrointestinal ulcerations and tumors” in rodent studies. The World Health Organization IARC labels it a possible human carcinogen. In Europe, it’s banned from infant formulas. (3)
As for dogs and cats, remember their digestive systems are designed for a mostly carnivorous diet. That’s why it’s no surprise that they often suffer diarrhea and flatulence when given many types of human food.
Seaweed may be a natural food for a pet turtle, but not your Labrador Retriever or Yorkshire Terrier!
It’s no wonder there are “harmful gastrointestinal effects of carrageenan in animal experiments” that are reported. (4)
In fact, if you’re a regular reader of Superfoodly, then you already know how we report numerous animal studies which actually use carrageenan as a pro-inflammatory marker, in order to measure if a food/supplement offers an anti-inflammatory benefit.
Even if syrup isn’t added to the pup cup, the unsweetened whipped cream is loaded with carrageenan – a proven promoter of inflammation and something unhealthy for a dog’s digestive tract.
Carrageenan aside, this is beyond a high-fat food!
All fats are 9 calories per gram. There are 12g of fat in their single serving of whipped cream (120 calories). That means that 108 of the calories are from fat. Before sugary syrup is added, a puppuccino is 90% fat.
Remember what we said at the start about how fatty foods cause dogs to fart?
Lastly, there’s the biggest fart offender inside… dairy.
According to the American Kennel Club:
“Dairy products are a leading source of food intolerance in dogs, and many dogs are lactose intolerant.”
Side effects of eating cheese, milk, or a Puppuccino may include gas, vomiting, abdominal pain, loose stools or diarrhea. (5)
The fact that dogs don’t tolerate dairy well is no shocker.
Remember, mammals only consume milk during infancy. When they’re breastfeeding from their mother.
Among the 5,416 species of mammals, none consume milk past infancy.
Except humans. Which many would argue is unnatural.
Maybe that’s why “approximately 65% of the human population” has a reduced ability to digest dairy. (6) (7)
The takeaway
With up to 90% of the calories being fat for the unsweetened, and up to 44g of sugar per cup for the sweetened, a puppuccino is not good for your dog. Those factors, as well as the dairy and carrageenan, are an unsafe trio which promote flatulence, inflammation, and possibly even diabetes in your pet.
Nor are they healthy for humans, in more ways than one…
We snapped this pic at one of the most frequented Starbucks locations in Los Angeles. At Union Station, downtown.
On the right, you see a customer feeding their dog on the countertop. The slobber is dripping onto the very same surface you get your own coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. You know, those baked goods that are only protected by a thin paper sheet? Those get set on this counter, right in the slobber.
On the left, we have a gentleman feeding his pit bull the puppuccino. Notice the whip dropped on the floor, as well as the dog’s anus dragging across it, as the man was pulling the cup forward.
Whether these are alleged emotional support animals or not, we don’t care. The health department should really be putting the kibosh on these filthy shenanigans. They’re bad for the dogs and totally unsanitary for the humans!

Dog hater… how sad. Service animals are life lines for so many Americans.
How are they a dog hater? It’s unsanitary to have a dog in a food establishment eating all over the place. I love the hell out of dogs… But a lot of people aren’t very good with their own hygiene, so you can’t expect them to be that concerned about their own dog’s hygiene. And as a person who has worked at Starbucks… I personally know how bad that whip cream is. I wouldn’t even eat it myself. It’s basically oil, cream and sugar.
Geez chill, we all know whipped cream isn’t healthy. One serving of whipped cream isn’t going to kill a single dog. You’re overreacting, it’s not like pet owners are feeding their fur babies Starbucks whipped cream on the daily!
Right?? A rare treat is not a reason to write a whole alarmist article about.
Okay, that last part is ridiculous. I’m pretty sure we walk nastier stuff every day than some germs from a dogs butt. I work at a retail store and we’ve literally had a human shit on the floor in an aisle. The last one I worked at, someone shit in a dressing room. We walk across millions of germs everyday. Unless you’re a moron and go out in public barefoot, you’ll be fine when walking on floors. The drool on the counter however, is disgusting.
My dog ate this pupachino and has been shitting his brains out every three hours since 4 pm today. It’s 4 am the next day and I haven’t slept more than 3hrs af a time yet.
Dog owner that hopes you aren’t dealing with the same
Thanks for posting! Was considering a puppuchino for my Aussie’s bday. Nope, I will get another treat!
If your dog can eat cheese as a treat then more than likely they could eat a puppuchino but of course a proper owner would only get something like that occasionally, One dog owner doesn’t mean anything, their dog could have issues that another dog doesn’t. Borks a lot your dog is lactose intolerant look up signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance in dogs if you don’t believe me. I think it’s a great once a year treat for dogs without lactose intolerance such as my cheese loving, dairy loving, Sheltie.
I’m a barista at starbucks and I’d like to add a little bit. While I don’t know much about dogs, I know about the things that go on, at least in my store. For starters, I’m not sure if it’s the same in many locations but we have switched to short cups for puppucinos. That’s about half the size of the tall cups, considering we don’t usually fill them all the way up anymore. Also, at least in my location, we don’t have any whipped cream that does not contain our syrups. All of our whipped creams are made with the syrups, and the only other option at the moment is cold brew whip cream which is somewhat caffienated, although delicious for humans. As far as animals in the establishment, we only allow service animals and we absolutely do not let them near or on the counters. Its expected that a floor is dirty, and i guarantee to you our floors are much cleaner than other places. (Lookin at you, McDonalds.) A nice alternative I can recommend is maybe cold foam? I don’t know if it would still be free, but you can choose whatever milk you would want for it(including coconut milk, almond milk, and soymilk along with a few other milks that actually do contain dairy such as 2%, nonfat, and whole.) While it would certainly not be the same consistency, I can assume that dogs would enjoy the foamy texture. And I don’t know if non-dairy milks are acceptable for dogs, so correct me if that’s a false assumption.
I just started working at Starbucks, and we don’t put 8 pumps of vanilla in our whipped cream?? Do you? I feel not only is this article crazy negative, but I’m not sure if that’s true.
I was just at a Starbuck’s today and they offed my dog what they called a “pup cup” (no, not a puppuccino…what ever that is). Sorry to say the article is above overly negative and not objective based on my true first-hand experience.
– The cup was tiny, maybe 3-4 ounces at the most.
– the cup was completely full of foam that came from a different dispenser than people whip cream and it was marked “not for humans”.
– I tasted the foam first as my dog does not get sweets of any kind. The foam is almost tasteless and not even a hint of sugar. There was no added flavoring of any kind.
– it tasted much like “Frosty Paws” dog ice cream (which is primarily whey powder, coconut oil, and soy flour…pretty much the same as an unflavored bodybuilding protein powder).
– if the total foam were condensed to a liquid I seriously believe it would be less than a tablespoon in volume.
My guess is the (unsweetened) drink I bought for myself was less healthy for me than the pup cup was for my 60# dog and he quite looked happy.
I’d rather have a dog’s ass on the floor than some of these disgusting, even filthier human feet. If you give this to a dog as a 1 time treat I am sure it’s fine. I would hope people know this is not something to give on a regular basis. Many rescues give this and a hamburger as a “freedom ” treat. This article is too dramatic lol.
Puppiccinos wont kill dogs if they arent being fed every single day. It’s like a one time treat for your dog!
I have been a barista at several different coffee shops and this article is very misleading. actually when you make the whip cream there’s very very little sugar so little in fact that it’s a safe item to consume on the Atkins diet and I speak from personal experience with that too. It is literally mostly are the part not is actually negligible. Just do it as a treat. Im picking my rescue dog up from his neuter today. I will not hesitate to give the little guy his first puppaccino after he’s been so good through a terrible ordeal. And unless you literally make yoyr own dog food that u hunt yourself. And grow yourself, odds are youre giving your pup worse stuff every day than an occasional puppaccino
The puppuccino was frickin fantastic! My hairless rat terrier pit-bull mix absolutely loved it.
Yes, too much fat can cause GI upset in dogs, but the bigger consideration, especially in older dogs is pancreatitis, which is caused by too much fat, and, yes, the amount in a cup of whipping cream could be an overload, especially for smaller dogs, and, of course, the vanilla syrup, if it’s sweetened, is definitely not a good thing. A better idea would be to serve whipped, pastured egg whites. There are vanilla syrups that are unsweetened. Do not confuse unsweetened, with sugar free, as artifical sweetness are not good for dogs, and one, in particular, xylitol, is poisonous to dogs! A small amount can kill!
What is a Starbucks Puppuccino and How Do I Get One?
Coffee runs are more fun when your dog is by your side. And now, when you go to Starbucks for your caffeine fix, you can get a little something extra for your pup to enjoy. It’s called a puppuccino, and it’s available on Starbucks’s secret menu.
We love that Starbucks offers this item for dogs, because it means that we can get our dogs a little treat while on a road trip, or when visiting a new city. It’s just a nice surprise for my pups. Hit up your nearest Starbucks and treat yo’ self, and your dog!
What is a Puppuccino?
A puppuccino is whipped cream served in an espresso or sample size Starbucks cup.
Yup, just whipped cream! There’s no caffeine, or harmful additives.
It’s on Starbucks’s secret menu, and is available for all good dogs.
Where does the name Puppuccino come from?
It’s a play on the word cappuccino. You might see it spelled in other ways too, like puppacino, puppaccino, puppichino, or puppycino.
How do you order a Puppuccino?
Simply ask for a puppuccino or for some whipped cream in a cup for your pup.
Are Puppuccinos safe for dogs?
Yes, when eaten in moderation.
Whipped cream is generally fine for dogs, as long as they don’t have too much.
Your dog shouldn’t be downing puppuccinos every day, but one here and there as a special treat should be fine.
How much do Puppuccinos cost?
Puppuccinos are free!
Yup, that’s right, your dog can enjoy a delicious puppuccino for no cost at all, which is good since my dog has no money.
I always ask for one when I’m ordering my own Starbucks drink.
If you’re not ordering a drink along with your puppuccino, then be warned that you might be charged for it. If you’re not charged and you still get it for free (score!), be sure you tip your barista generously.
What’s in a Starbucks Puppuccinos?
Starbucks whipped cream.
According to Starbucks, their whipped cream contains cream, milk, mono and diglycerides and carrageenan.
Sounds scary huh? Let’s break it down:
That’s the official Starbucks puppuccino recipe!
Can you order a Puppuccino on the Starbucks app?
Unfortunately, because puppuccinos are not on the actual Starbucks menu, you can’t order them through the Starbucks app in advance or get them delivered to your door.
You can order them in person and when using the drive through.
Can I get a puppuccino at other locations?
No Starbucks nearby? Is that even possible?
Not to worry. You can get similar items at other chains.
Dunkin’ Donuts offers puppy lattes. They’re similar to puppuccinos – whipped cream in a cup.
Shake Shack sells the Pooch-ini, a doggy dessert made of dog biscuits and vanilla custard. They also sell a Bag O’ Bones, which is a bag of five dog biscuits made by New York’s Bocce’s Bakery.
Dairy Queen offers Pup Cups, which is a dog treat smack dab in the middle of vanilla ice cream.
And if you’re in New York City, check out these other restaurants that have dog menus.
How to make a Puppuccino at home:
If you’re not in the Starbucks mood, or you want to give your dog a treat at home, make them their own puppuccino!
All you need is either heavy cream, or a store bought whipped cream like Cool Whip or Reddi-wip.
Just be sure not to overdo it. A little whipped cream is fine, on occasion, but it’s not a treat your dog should be getting every day.
Pup cup
This was the hardest question on the test, no cap.
I know youʼve never met Face in real life, quit capping.
To secure the bag —
If I play my cards right, Iʼll secure the bag.
I really secured the bag with my job.
Wig —
— I got tickets to Khleb show!
To yeet —
Hey! Why the hell did you yeet that bottle at me?
Those are some dope snickers! Yeet!
YSK = you should know — нужно знать
YSK how to access all of the data Google has collected about you.
Google.
YSK that the people at your gym care about you.
TL; DR = too long, didnʼt read —
Long post, TL; DR at bottom.
Tl; dr: it went amazingly well.
Today years old — сегодня
Все началось с тредов вроде: «How old were you when you learned that the Sun is not a planet?» Некоторые узнавали о факте прямо из вопроса — и писали «I was today years old» — «Мне было „сегодня“ лет». Теперь такую формулировку используют, чтобы поделиться интересным открытием, которое автор сделал вот только что.
I was today years old when I learned you shouldnʼt microwave raw egg.
I was today years old when I realized all three aʼs in «Australia» are pronounced differently.
