Mikrotik radius server is not responding —
6 Mikrotik radius server is not responding.
В фаервол в самый верх добавил правило

so you are using usermanager on the same router as hotspot server.
what about
/tool user-manager router

I have exactly the same issue, I can’t find the solution anywhere and this post seems to have stopped as if silenced.
I havn’t even been able to use the radius function (use-radius) even once since I’ve used mikrotik, always the same error.
Has it even been confirmed that setting the radius time out actually works?
Please someone respond with some help!

My radius wont work with 127.0.0.1
So i used the ip of the interface of my hotspot. And it is working. Did not had a reqeust timeout ever again.
Im only use wireless service on radius now.

You guys are awesome. This was my biggest problem, thank you guys I’m glad I actually posted something and now it works immediately.
I’m trying to use this in a office situation but with MAC login, now I can try and figure out the MAC part at last.

I changed the radius server and router ip address to 192.168.0.254 and it worked. Now it seems to be down again (radius server not responding).
I had the issue that I could not connect to the user manager web interface on http://192.168.0.254/userman if the hotspot and radius is on that same address (interface). I just set up a new address to a random port on my RB450 and then could log in to that adress.
Everything worked last night before I left the office and this morning the radius server was not responding again. I will try to redo all my steps after reloading the previous backup and then tell you if I found what went wrong.

Other than the fact that somone was trying to ssh into my router from the wan side on the main log there doesn’t seem to be anything dodgy or nonsensical. Only accounting failure, authorization failure and authorization success (104 total items). I don’t know when these timestamps are as I had to revert to backups a few times and I didn’t put my NTP server up till the middle of the day.
I have come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the Hotspot setup or maybe even a bug. I have tried everything and when I disabled the hotspot the network ran smoothly. When I enabled it again the Hotspot and radius could communicate and everyone could log in. Hopefully this luck keeps up over night and tomorrow there won’t be issues again.
I will see if I can find a straight answer to these thing but it’s working so I won’t fiddle too much. I still think the obvious solution is to not use 127.0.0.1 anywhere when setting up the raius and the hotspot and the other issues are just reset and restart, also seeing where you made an error in routing or what not.

Hi im also unable to log into userman from the wan side, i think that my be something to prevent people from trying to hack into the AP. Im using the wireless feature of the radius. It it almast the same as hotspot but people do not get a login screen. When users turn on their computers then the radius server check if their mac address match and then they are allowed, if not then they are unable to connect and the radius rejects their packets.
The best way to test radius is to have a extra computer and then to reboot it and then check if it connects.

Please help to check, and i got problem with Radius Server.
I have intergrade Mikrotik Hotspot radius with AD radius server.
Before it work fine, but now it got some problem. Most of time I connect, I got message reply: Radius Server Not Respond.
So I need to press button connect many time to log to my account. Some time we need to reconnect SSID from wireless to make it work.
So how to solve this problem?

Please post here

/radius monitor
Do not increase RADIUS timeout, when there is no any important reason.

I’m connect to Radius Server of Window IAS (Internet Authentication Server).
as your experience, this case can related to Radius Timeout?
So what number should we set for Radius Timeout on Mikrotik Router?
Re: Radius Server Not Respond

I do not use IAS. I use FreeRADIUS. But the delay in sending an Access-Reject message is part of a brute force hack prevention scheme. It allows only one attempt per second, limiting the number of times a hacker can try to break in. It is possible that IAS uses that scheme also.
I suggest trying the timeout=2s like above (2 seconds), and set the radius logging also as I suggested. Try a login and check the router’s log. Try a user/password that is valid, and one that isn’t. See if there is a difference in the response.
You can always change it back to timeout=300ms if you want. You might want to disable the radius debug logging once you get it working. It does put a lot of entries in the log.
I am not recommending that you do something that I don’t do. My routers are already set with this new timeout.
ADD: If you were using User Manager, especially installed in the same router, then sergejs is correct. Do not change this value. This applies to external RADIUS servers that use an Access-Reject delay.
The best way to tell is try to login with a valid user/password and then with an invalid user/password. If the valid password works, and the invalid password shows «radius server not responding» instead of «invalid user or password», then this change should take care of that problem.
The reason I like setting the timeout=2s (at least temporarily) is to insure that there is not a setting in IAS/RADIUS that is rejecting all requests.

Add a logging radius item in the mikrotik for see what happend. Maybe you not have the mikrotik router as a nas in the freeradius.

I encountered an issue when implementing Hotspot with Radius Server. Their all configured on the same router RB2011UAS.
1) In Radius configuration :
I selected «Hotspot» and set ip address to 127.0.0.1 and shared secret to «12345».
In Radius incoming config, I choose «Accept» with port 3799.
2) In Hotspot server cnfiguration :
In Hotspot Server profile, I choose Login by : HTTP CHAP and cookie and I choose to use Radius.
3) In user manager configuration :
I add a router with IP address 127.0.0.1 and shared secret to «12345».
I add also a user.
But when a user attempting to login, he receives a error «The Radius server is not responding».
Can anyone help me for this issue? It seems that Hotspot server and Radius server are not communicating.

I find a solution. I reset the configuration and after this I reconfigured the Radius Server and the Hotspot server. Now it is working.

Hi adken123
I also face with same problem as you are. I use CCR1009 with ROS 6.15 and use Userman to manage user login through Hotspot and it work fine for one day and after that client computer can’t login to Hotspot through Userman and I can’t login Userman admin via web. I can login to CCR1009 by Winbox but with user «admin» and no password seem like it come from factory but all my configure still there.
I need to reboot it and it back on operate but on the next day it happen again then I remove Userman and use ROS hotspot via Winbox to manage user instead and it work fine until now.
As for my investigate when Userman has plenty of client connected which about 30 user up this will happen.
Do someone face with this problem and how to resolve it.

In Winbox you need to go to
You should create a Hotspot server in «Server» tab and the easy way to do it is click on «Hotspot Setup» and follow it default value which you already did for DHCP, IP Address, IP Poll. (Which you should already did it if you will use Userman)
Then during the hotspot setup it will automatic create on default user for you name «admin» with no password. After finish this for first time the Router will disconnect and you will need to logon your hotspot with admin user. If everything was fine you could access to internet or your router after logon success.
