Однажды, я руководил одной компанией, которая занималась контролем сотрудников. И вот разработчики предложили добавить в систему новый функционал.
Ничего с технической точки зрения этот функционал из себя не представлял — анализируя нажатые клавиши, система пыталась сделать вывод отличается ли поведение сотрудника от стандартного или нет.
Причем конкретного ответа — что именно происходит — программа не давала. Может устал, может на его месте сидит другой человек, может сотрудник долбит по одной клавише, может он выпил…
Ох это волшебное слово «выпил»…
И тут началось!
Про нас написали газеты, три телеканала выпустили сюжеты, позвонили с радио. Причем интересовал их только один вопрос — «сколько вы выпили при тестировании программы»
А когда месяц спустя я встречался с крупным потенциальным клиентом, меня спросили — «а в вашей программе есть функция ПЬЯНЫЙ ПОЧЕРК?»
В результате достаточно простая и не критичная для бизнеса штука очень мощно и достаточно долго продвигала продут практически без вложений в маркетинг.
Это и называется Show Stopper — функционал, добавляемый в продукт не для реального business value (пользы для клиента), а для активного привлечения внимания к продукту.
Один из классических примеров — антикрыло. 
Для большинства автомобилей — это совершенно ненужный аксессуар. Они просто не могут (как в силу конструктивных особенностей, так и запретов ПДД) разогнаться до такой скорости, когда использование антикрыла начнет оказывать воздействие на поведение автомобиля на дороге.
Но ведь не круто же без него! Вот и прикручивают…
А теперь вспомните все технологические продукты, которые вы покупали для себя и для компании. Всеми ли крутыми фишками, которые так нравились вам в момент выбора, вы пользуетесь сейчас?
Так что show stopper работает и весьма неплохо!
Беда в другом, очень тяжело предугадать какой именно функционал «выстрелит». Именно поэтому на рынке огромное количество бестолковых продуктов с «уникальными возможностями» и «фирменными технологиями».
Та компания, про которую я рассказывал в самом начале, позже (уже после моего ухода оттуда) попыталась повторить успех — но безрезультатно.
Что можно сделать, чтобы с высокой степенью вероятности (но отнюдь не гарантированно) добавить show stopper в ваш продукт?
