Thumb mouse button это что
Nearly every FPS that I’ve ever played has options for binding the mouse thumb buttons, but I can’t figure out how to do it in this game. When I try binding mouse4 or mouse5 (the usual thumb button numbers) via the settings menu, it just unbinds the action altogether. For example, crouch is keyboard C or CTRL by default and when I try to bind a mouse thumb button, the binding disappears completely.
Thanks for any help.
Even though the binding will disappear, the M4 or M5 button will actually get assigned to that function.
We’ll make an icon for both of those.
Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, the thumb buttons really don’t get bound in my case. I tested again just a minute ago and it’s not working. I’m using the Logitech G500s. Shouldn’t be a fault of the mouse though since I confirmed that the thumb buttons are still working in other games/applications.
Interesting, I’m on a Zowie FK1 and they bind correctly.
Go to steamapps\common\Postal2Complete\System and open a file called User.ini with a Notepad. Search for Mouse5= and Mouse4= and bind them both manually to Jump and Kick, it should look something like this: https://gyazo.com/a9b49d892368e6762790aedd52882ab5
Save the changes, and boot up the game. Let me know if you can kick with M4 and Jump with M5.
Binding Jump and DoKick worked for me as in your example. The problem just seems to be binding Duck. When I try binding Mouse4 or Mouse5 to Duck, it doesn’t work at all.
Doing `get input Mouse5` in console returns Duck as expected, same for when I check the input for CTRL or C. I just can’t crouch at all with the thumb buttons.

Mouse thumb buttons (XButton1/Mouse4 and XButton2/Mouse5) in hotkey combinations #36
Comments

Hi there,
I read in your release notes that with the latest release it should be possible to use those buttons on the mouse. Until now i always used the Logitech SetPoint Control Panel to trigger a hotkey combination when i pressed the mouse. Those hotkeys were picked up by Toastify and it did it’s work after that.
But how can I set those buttons as hotkeys in Toastify? I am using a Logitech M500. That kind of mouse is suitable, right?
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:

It should be, yeah.
Have you already tried to use them in the Hotkeys section of the settings or not?
Just click on the small text box near «Press a Key» to have it focused and then press the mouse button.
gahujipo commented Mar 8, 2018
Yep. That is exactly what I tried. Nothing happens when i click the buttons while having the text box focused (clicked once). Does that work for you?
Blazeflack commented Mar 8, 2018
It works for me with my Razer Naga Hex v2. When I bind one of my side buttons the text in the keybind box says «D#» where # is a number between 1 and 7 both included.
aleab commented Mar 8, 2018 •
@gahujipo, yes, it does work on my side with a ROG Gladius.
I have a couple of ideas on what might be the issue for you; tomorrow I’ll post a test release here with extra debugging info. I’ll need your log file afterwards.
@Blazeflack, really? That’s honestly an unexpected behaviour. Firstly because I expected it to print either XButton1 or XButton2; secondly because if they are indeed recognised as mouse buttons they should theoretically not work if more than 2 of them are used in different hotkeys.
For example, let’s say you bind «Ctrl+D1» to VolumeUp and «Ctrl+D2» to VolumeDown; then you try to bind «Ctrl+D#» (where # is 3 to 7) to Mute. I’d expect one of the following behaviours:
That’s because Windows APIs only support up to 5 mouse buttons. The extra buttons must be handled by custom drivers. What I guess it’s happening is that all or part of your side buttons are instead being interpreted as keyboard events.
Blazeflack commented Mar 9, 2018 •
I just tested it again and all of my 7 side buttons appear to work fine as keybinds. I had volume up and down bound to D2 and D3, and I then bound D1 to Mute. I opened the volume mixer to keep an eye on the slider and when I pressed the Mute keybind it correctly muted the Spotify mixer and it did not modify the volume slider.
So if this should not be possible with mouse buttons then I guess you are right that they are interpreted as keyboard events.
Edit: I do have Razer Synapse installed though (their software to modify devices), so perhaps that is what is handling it.

Sorry, my fault. All I had to do is change a setting in my Logitech SetPoint Control Panel which prevented the click event from being forwarded to Toastify. The setting is:
Now it works as expected. A big thank you from my side too for maintaining the project.
You can’t perform that action at this time.

How do I configure a mouse thumb button?
How can I configure the mouse thumb button. For example, if I want it to act as a double click.
My mouse is Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000 Bluetooth (if it matters) and I use Natty.

By installing a couple packages you can configure this pretty easily without too much trouble at all. No matter what version of Linux I’m using i am always sure to install two specific applications when it comes to mouse and keyboard emulation.
sudo apt-get install xautomation
xbindkeys is a program that enables us to bind commands to certain keys or key combinations on the keyboard and is window manager independent, so whether you are in Gnome, Unity, KDE, etc. it makes no difference.
sudo apt-get install xbindkeys
****By using these two programs together we can make the keyboard and mouse do just about anything we want them to.***
You say you want to use the thumb button in your case for instance, well first we need to find what «mouse button number» X Server is recognizing when you click it. We will use a useful tool called xev to run this program do the following:
1. Open up a terminal window and type the following command at the prompt
It will open an event handler on your screen that looks like the following:
The xev application, showing keycodes
Xev creates a window and then asks the X server to send it events whenever anything happens to the window (such as it being moved, resized, typed in, clicked in, etc.). You can also attach it to an existing window. It is useful for seeing what causes events to occur and to display the information that they contain; it is essentially a debugging and development tool, and should not be needed in normal usage.
Hover your mouse over the event window that opened on your screen and click your thumb button. You will see alot of things happening in your terminal window but the one thing that we are concerned with is the «button number» of the one you just clicked. This can be found at the bottom of your terminal window and should look something similar to the following line:
state 0x10, button 1, same_screen YES
The button part is what were interested in. Being yours is a thumb button its probably gonna say button 8 or button 9 but it could be any number. Remember or write down that number for we will use it later. You can now close xev we no longer need this program.
Now to get things working!!
Assuming you have installed the xautomation and xbindkeys applications as stated above, we will go ahead and do the following:
3. Type the following inside the file:
«xte ‘mouseclick 1’ ‘mouseclick 1′»
b:X + Release
Note: **Be sure to replace X with whatever number you wrote down for your thumb button from when we ran xev earlier*.
Note: **There should also be no spaces between the first line and the second line. If you have a space you will get an error when you run xbindkeys.*
Whats were telling xbindkeys to do here is to take the action of clicking and releasing your thumb button and make it do the action of double clicking your left mouse button which is represented but ‘mouseclick 1’ ‘mouseclick 1’
4. Save the file and we should be good to go.
Ok lets test it out!!
5. Open a terminal window and type the following so we can test the functionality:
Now if you click on your thumb button on your mouse then you should see some things happening in your terminal, meaning that it’s recognizing the button press. You should now be getting the same functionality as you would by double-clicking with the left button of your mouse.
You should be able to test this out by using the thumb button and clicking on the menu bar of the terminal, which should maximize or minimize it, thus doing the same thing as a double click would do with the left mouse button.
Now and exit the program.
I’ve tried to explain in the best detail on how to go about doing this, hopefully you have been able to understand and complete this action with success. 🙂
