Рынок, где обращаются уже существующие ценные бумаги (в отличие от первичного рынка (primery market), на котором ценные бумаги продаются впервые). В большинстве случаев роль вторичного рынка в значительной степени играет фондовая биржа (stock exchange), поскольку размещение новых эмиссий (new issues) составляет лишь небольшую часть биржевого оборота. Однако именно наличие процветающего вторичного рынка, обеспечивающего ликвидность (liquidity) и распределение рисков (risks), создает условия для нормального функционирования первичного рынка.
